About Tommy SeiglerTommy Seigler began his martial arts training as a teenager in Charleston SC. It was there, in an old two story military barrack, that Mr. Seigler met Mr. Albert C. Church Jr. Mr. Church was the Soke of Shorinji Tetsu-Ken Kamishin Ryu. Mr. Seigler trained in Soke Church’s association in several different arts under Soke Church and Dr. James R. Cherry until 1979. Dr. Cherry was chief instructor and examiner for Soke Church from 1975 to 1980. In 1980 Soke Church unfortunately passed away. After the death of Soke Church, Dr. Cherry, due to personal conflicts, formed the AKKA (American Kempo-Karate Association) and founded the system known as Shorinji Toraken Do Sogoken Do Kempo Jutsu. Mr. Seigler moved to Augusta, GA in 1982 after living in Greenville, SC where he trained with Sam Chapman in his American Karate System. He had also just finished training at Joe Corley’s American Karate in Atlanta, GA with legendary kickboxing trainer, Asa Gordon. From 1982 until 1989 he was a member of the AKKA, Dr. Cherry’s association. In 1990, Mr. Seigler founded the American Kempo Association. The American Kempo Association is a Christian Martial Arts Association and is the governing body for the Tetsushin Budo / Tetsushin Ryu Kempo system as recognized by Nippon Kubodo Rengokai in 2010. Tommy Seigler’s past martial arts experience has prepared him and his team for the present and the future. He has competed in sport karate tournaments, amateur kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu / submission grappling competitions. Currently, Mr. Seigler is the Head Striking and Jiu-Jitsu Coach for Seigler’s MMA. He is also a Brown Belt in Machado Jiu-Jitsu. He is proud to claim Seigler’s MMA as an affiliate school under 8th Degree Black Belt Master Carlos Machado and the R C J Machado Association. Mr. Seigler has been training under 3 time Collegiate All American Wrestler, Dr. Dale Schmacht, since 2009. The blending of Machado Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling makes members of the Seigler’s MMA Competition Team a force to be reckoned with in grappling and jiu-Jitsu events throughout the southeast. |
Dr. Dale Schmacht
About DaleDr. Schmacht began wrestling in 1975 as a ninth grader. Utilizing a dedicated year- around training regimen, he placed second in the state of Illinois in 1978 with his only two losses that year coming from the defending state champion. In 1979, he won the state championship and was selected to the Wrestling USA Magazine’s High School All-America Team. His high school record was 108-20-1.In college he became a three time All-American wrestler. His college record was 125-23-3 with two third places and a fourth place finish in Division III. During his college career, he trained with many Olympians and college national champion wrestlers and re-orientated his wrestling technique from college folk-style to Olympic free-style. He was heavily influenced by Dan Gable and adopted Coach Gable’s philosophy of constant pressure to wear down one’s opponent mentally and physically. He has trained since 2009 in Brazilian Jui Jitsu under the guidance of Mr. Seigler. During the same time period, he has and currently assists Mr. Seigler with his wrestling technique. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for Team Seigler’s competition students. His goal is to help each student to achieve their individual potential for both martial arts and life. |
Titus Waters
About TitusMr. Waters began his martial arts career training in kickboxing. By starting to train in Kempo and subsequently adding Jiu-Jitsu in his growing repertoire, his knowledge of martial arts steadily grew. After three years of hard and steady work, he earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in Kempo. After seeing his desire to teach, he was invited onto teaching staff at Seigler’s Karate Center. Mr. Waters became a full-time instructor of MMA and Karate at Seigler’s MMA in 2007, after undergoing rigorous instructor training. Since then, he has continued to hone his skill to earn a 2nd Degree Black Belt Level 4 in Kempo Karate, as well as his Blue Belt in BJJ beneath the Carlos Machado system. Competition is something Mr. Waters definitely enjoys; he appreciates hard work and hard training. Getting into the ring and putting all he's got into each match is what has caused him to develop the determination, heart, and drive to be a great Mixed Martial Artist and grow into a dedicated, well-loved instructor. |
Cory Hobbs
About CoryAfter being an avid fan of Mixed Martial Arts, Mr. Hobbs began his training at Seigler’s MMA in 2008. Since then, he has worked hard as a student earning an Advanced Brown Belt rank in MMA and Kempo; he has been an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling Tournaments across the South East.After he accepted the job of a part-time teaching assistant in late 2009, Mr. Hobbs began an intense schedule of instructor and martial arts training at our center. Now, since the fall of 2010, after all his hard work and dedication, he is now a full-time instructor of MMA and Karate. Mr. Hobbs devotes himself to helping students achieve their best at Seigler’s MMA; he gives all our students outstanding attention and preparation so they could be in their best physical shape. His detail-oriented training-style helps students of all levels thrive in their training. |
